Video captures the wonders of Woodford ahead of NYE
THE Sunshine Coast might be "party central" for New Year's Eve but there are many people who wouldn't dream of being anywhere but at the Woodford Folk Festival.
After days of sweltering heat, pouring rain and spectacular lightning displays, the festival hits another gear tonight for the three minutes of silence which has become a festival tradition.
At 11.30pm, festival revellers will be asked to be quiet, musicians will pause and hundreds of candles will be lit.
"It's a time for patrons to reflect on the closing year, cast wishes for the year ahead and remember absent friends," festival general manager Amanda Jackes said.
"It's an incredibly powerful moment, which is broken with the ringing of the village green bell and mighty roar of united Woodfordians across the site."
If you head down to Woodfordia today there will be plenty happening - from the Monks of Tibet at 8.30am to the New Year's Eve Hogmanay in the amphitheatre from 10pm-1am.
Tickets to Woodford Folk Festival New Year's Eve and New Year's Day are still available. For more information go to www.woodfordfolkfestival.com.
