Gympie to be a health and healing destination
THE Gympie Conference Centre has undergone more than one transformation over the years, and its newest redevelopment could make Gympie a go-to destination for health and well-being.
The former forestry complex at Araluen, on the northern outskirts of Gympie, was recently relaunched as the Araluen Retreat, a private haven that provides support and encouragement for guests to find a new lease of life.
General manager Dr Lorraine O'Neill says the concept behind Araluen Retreat is unique in Australia.
"The mission of the retreat is to provide guests with an affordable, easy-to-reach destination where they can enjoy a true holistic break to recuperate their bodies and rejuvenate their minds," she said.
"We have three major programs focused on weight loss, executive de-stress and our Fresh Start program, which are specifically designed for individuals dealing with the onset of depression or anxiety.
"We have made it affordable to the normal working person who needs support to lose weight, de-stress and generally escape life's pressures," Lorraine said.
"For our first weight loss program, we are offering 20% off to participants who want to lose between 6-15kg. Everything is included and you stay with us for a week plus, we are also unique in the fact we support participants for a further 10 weeks ensuring they reach their goals and remain happy."
Dr O'Neill is a high performance expert who has worked with entrepreneurs, athletes and artists around the world.
As part of her role at Araluen Retreat she will also provide her knowledge and support to business owners who hire Araluen Retreat as their own venue to run external programs.
"I've already made contact with some holistic health practitioners who want to use Araluen Retreat to run their own programs, I've helped them redesign programs so they make up to $38,000 in one week after costs," she said.
