Police restructure has some benefits

RESIDENTS of the Curra-Gunalda area may finally have the security of a police service being only a few minutes travel away when needed, not almost an hour as has been the case for many years.

It seems the Gympie Regional Council area to the north that has been subject to policing from Tiaro and Maryborough may now come under the Gympie umbrella, something residents have been calling for over an extended period.

This is an issue that should have been addressed a long time ago but because of reluctance on the part of some within the service never happened.

The restructure of the Gympie police district has some benefits but also brings with it a number of downsides not the least of which is the apparent loss of Supt Chris Sang from Gympie, a man with immense policing knowledge who has become very much part of this community.

Restructure of the Qld Police Service is leading to the loss of many experienced officers with immense knowledge, for which there can be little substitute.
