Report: Monster offer made for Benji

Benji Marshall is reportedly being targeted by the UK Super League, with a big-money offer on the table as the footy star explores his options after being cut loose by the Wests Tigers.

The joint-venture club, who Marshall debuted for as a teenager in 2003, told the 35-year-old he was unwanted beyond 2020 even though he is keen to play on. He is yet to finalise a deal with another NRL team, but English club Hull has shown interest.

According to a report by The Daily Telegraph, Hull FC has offered the veteran playmaker a deal worth $AUD722,000 for 2021, which would make him the highest-paid player in the league alongside Warrington five-eighth and former NRL star Gareth Widdop.

A move to the UK would see Marshall link up with former Tigers teammate and assistant coach Brett Hodgson, who was recently appointed Hull's new head coach on a three-year deal.

Marshall was at the Tigers for a decade before trying his hand at rugby union, then enjoyed short stints at St George and Brisbane before returning to Concord in 2018.

The pivot played a starring role in the Tigers' 2005 premiership triumph but the club has never reached those same heights again, failing to make the finals every year since 2011.

There were rumours Marshall was being hunted by the Cowboys, who are now coached by another of his former teammates, Todd Payten, but he reportedly knocked back a move to North Queensland.

Marshall has also been linked to Cronulla, while a report in the Sydney Morning Herald on Sunday claimed his management has approached the Roosters.

The Roosters already have NSW representative Luke Keary as their first-choice five-eighth, but will blood a new halfback in 2021 after getting rid of youngster Kyle Flanagan following his first full season in the top grade.
