Remember Anzacs across the region

GYMPIE RSL Sub Branch president Ivan Friske said Anzac Day on Sunday marked the 95th anniversary of the Gallipoli landing and this year marked 60 years since Australians fought in the Korean War.

Yesterday an Anzac service was held at the Gympie Nursing Centre.

“It was good to do it; a lot of people aren’t able to get out on Anzac Day. One resident — a WWII veteran — won’t be able to make it to an Anzac Day service for the first time in 70 years,” he said.

Mr Friske encouraged children and people who had served in the Defence Force to take part, if you require a vehicle to take part in the march contact the RSL as soon as possible.
