Reece Mastin ticketing debacle causes commotion

HE'S CAUSING serious commotion on the Coffs Coast.

Visiting pop star Reece Mastin's show tonight is being eagerly anticipated by almost 1000 concert goers - but there are some members of the community who aren't so happy, due to a ticketing bungle.

Local dad John Senes was horrified to discover that his teenage daughter could only attend the show if he also bought a ticket.

"It's not that I want to make a fuss, but when we bought the tickets from Ticketek not one person said anything about adult supervision," John said this afternoon.

"When we looked again (at the Ticketek website) yesterday we didn't see anything there."

Locals who bought their tickets directly from venue C.ex Coffs' website were informed in writing that at the all ages, alcohol-free show show, "children under 16 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian, and children under 18 must have a parent or guardian on the premises for the concert."

C.ex Coffs Marketing Manager Alice Williams said Ticketek omitted the details in error - a mistake that should have been fixed by Reece Mastin's management team, who dealt exclusively with the ticketing giant.

"The Club has a policy that when we have underage shows, for the safety of patrons and especially kids, those kids must be accompanied by responsible adult," Ms Williams said.

" It's part of the contract with Reece Mastin's management - I understand it wasn't put on Ticketek, and we repeatedly raised that issue."

Mr Senes, whose out of town friends from Yamba, Grafton and Lismore also bought their children tickets via Ticketek, said that someone should be held accountable for the error, despite Ticketek displaying  the updated terms and conditions this morning.

"Someone's stuffed up and all these people, what will they do?"

Ms Williams said the situation hasn't stopped ticket sales from continuing today, and won't affect the hundreds of people who bought tickets through the Club's website.

"We feel terrible for these people - that's why we're insisting that Reece's tour manager be on the door tonight to explain to parents what happened," she said.

But she stood by the condition requiring parents or guardians to accompany their underage children tp the show.

"Our biggest concern with any of these shows is always the safety of our patrons - it's the most important factor in our decisions."
