Record cane throughput at Millaquin and Bingera mills
THE best weekly throughput this season was achieved during week 8 with a combined 91,953 tonnes at Millaquin and Bingera mills.
The season to date total is 652,667 tonnes, about 44% of the season's estimate.
Bundaberg Sugar grower services officer Bruce Roberts said extremely good performance at the Bundaberg mills combined with ideal weather helped in achieving this positive result.
"Millaquin Mill achieved a throughput of 53,088 tonnes, exceeding targets and crushing the best weekly total since 2001. However, last week's result is even better when taking into account 8% more sugar was produced because the average CCS was higher at 15.17 compared to 13.31 for that week in 2001," Mr Roberts said.
"CCS this season continues to be high with around 16% of the cane crushed averaging 16.0 CCS and above. The district average CCS was 15.08, an increase of 0.41 units for the week. The weekly average CCS at Millaquin was 15.17 and 14.97 at Bingera," he said.
Variety KQ228A was again the major variety with 25.6% of the supply averaging 15.54 CCS at Millaquin and 15.21 at Bingera. Q208A was 23.2% of supply with an average CCS of 15.01, about 0.07 units below the district figure.
Raw sugar sales to growers supplying Bundaberg Sugar had begun, Mr Roberts said.
