Rattler volunteers win thanks

THE volunteers who gave up three weekends to lay 270 railway sleepers and get the Rattler back on track were yesterday applauded by Mary Valley Heritage Rail president Tony Hallam.

Mr Hallam said the work was a "mighty effort" and he singled out Gympie councillor Julie Walker for organising a Mary Valley crew and Peter Alder who helped organise a MVHR volunteer crew.

The teams replaced the sleepers along the track between Amamoor Kandanga Rd and the Kandanga Railway Station.

"The Rattler is indebted to those volunteers," Mr Hallam said. "It's great to have it running again."
