RATTLER REVIEW: 'there's no conflict of interest'
GYMPIE Regional Council has shot down concerns of a possible conflict of interest in the upcoming Rattler review, despite the company with the job having previously tendered for work on the project.
Ranbury Project Management Group, which was awarded $25,000 to conduct an independent review into the troubled project, was one of the companies that tendered for contract management work on the Rattler in April last year.
That contract was eventually awarded to Rail Futures for more than $455,000 - the company which the council is now considering launching legal action against in the wake of the project's blow-outs.
A council spokeswoman said this would not affect the bias of the report.
"Council is not concerned regarding Ranbury's previous tender," she said.
"Information and outcomes listed in the final report to be delivered to council in September will and must be supported by evidence.
"Otherwise it would not be included in the report.
"This is standard practice for any review.
"The legal investigation involving the Rail Futures tender is separate to this project which Ranbury is aware of.
"Outcomes resulting from the (Ranbury) report will be supported by evidence."
She said the review would also cast a wide net over the project.
"The scope will be based from the inception of the project, however the emphasis will be placed from early 2016 (creation of the original business plan) to the current day.
"A number of elements of the project will be reviewed, including the original reports, the level of analysis, council's project management practices and project reporting, and why the cost escalations occurred." A Ranbury spokesman said the group was bound by confidentiality and unable to comment.
