Mary Valley Stags rampage over the Swnas

RUGBY LEAGUE: THE windy weather caused havoc with the high balls when the Mary Valley Stags played Maroochydore/Coolum Swans at Kawana at the weekend.

Within the first minute of play the Swans scored against the Stags.

Publicity officer Jenny Carlson said the Stags thought it was going to be a tough match.

But the Stags started crossing the line putting the boys from the Valley comfortably in front.

"It was a great game of footy played in the true spirit of the game with good decent clean on and off-field behaviour which left everybody feeling well satisfied for the day," Carlson said.

Luke Williamson and James Hogan scored two each and Tom Curran and Reece Mackay one each while Troy Carlson kicked four goals and James Cochrane one.

Luke Williamson was awarded the Players Player for his playmaking and impressive work as pivot and solid defence around the ruck.

Stags came out on top of the Swans 34-16.

Next week's game is a home game at Kandanga as the Stags play Caboolture 2 which is sitting just three points above the Stags on the ladder.

First game between Beerwah and Bribie Island kicks off at 1pm with the feature match between the Stags and Caboolture 2 starting 2.30pm.

Canteen and bar facilities available. Entry $5.
