Rainbow hall takes shape

SWALLOWS were quick to explore the much anticipated Community Hall and Library taking shape at Rainbow Beach this week.

Their curiosity will be short lived though with windows and cladding about to go up, putting the finishing touches to the town's latest community asset.

Builder Scott Sutton said the project was progressing well with Christmas set as the completion date.

The project will cost ratepayers around $1.8 million.

The modern facility will include a library, a large stage area with seating for about 300 people, a commercial quality kitchen, toilet facilities and a 60-bay car park.

Residents of Rainbow Beach have been campaigning for a community hall for some 30 years.

The coastal community has had to conduct town meetings and events at the local church or at the Rainbow Beach Sport and Recreation Club.
