Race in for mega draw

THERE are dozens of reasons to enjoy your local races but there are 3000 good reasons why Gympie’s Fashions on the Field finalists of 2010 should make sure they are trackside this Saturday at the last race meeting of the year.

Gympie Turf Club committee member and Fashions on the Field coordinator Chris Hamilton said everyone was looking forward to the first Fashions on the Field mega draw at the Christmas Party Race Day, when one lucky finalist will be handed a $3000 cheque.

“We’ll have the normal Fashion on the Field competition and then all the names of the finalists will go into the draw, including the people who have just won,” Mrs Hamilton said.

If people have won more than once, then their name will go in as many times as they were finalists.

“It could be a lady or a gentleman, because the couples go in too,” she said.

Mrs Hamilton said the draw will take place around 3.30pm and the prospect of winning such a windfall has a few contenders rearranging their weekend plan.

“One lady who was going to Brisbane said she’d go to the races first,” Mrs Hamilton said.

“This is about encouraging people to nominate for the competition and thank them for going to the effort and dressing up for the races.”

Gates open at 11am, with the first race commencing at 1pm.
