Rabbitohs give Paul Carter a second chance

SOUTH Sydney has thrown axed Titans forward Paul Carter a lifeline, signing the 23-year-old for the remainder of the 2015 season, and also 2016.

Carter, the son of former Penrith great Steve Carter, had his contract terminated in December after pleading guilty to drink-driving for the second time in 2014. He was charged with unlic

ensed driving. He had lost his licence for the previous drink-driving offence in June.

He said he was grateful to the NRL premiers.

"The Rabbitohs have shown faith in me as a person and a footballer and I thank the club for giving me this opportunity," Carter said. "I'm very fortunate to be getting an opportunity to start my career again with such a fantastic club, and it's something I won't be taking for granted."

Carter (pictured) is a former Australian Schoolboys, NSW Residents and NSW U20s representative.
