'Quiet family':Neighbour shocked at woman's suspicious death

A NEIGHBOUR of the woman found dead on Mills Avenue says she was shocked when she woke this morning to see a crime scene set up across the road.

Liza, who lives few doors down from the house where a 53-year-old woman died early this morning, says the household was usually quiet and she'd never heard any disturbances at the residence.

Queensland Police Service were called to the address around 5.50am this morning after the daughter of the woman found her body and called authorities.

Detective Acting Inspector Luke Peachy said someone was seen fleeing the scene in the darkness.

Police initially described it as a "sudden death" but has since been upgraded to "suspicious".

Liza said the family had only moved into a Mills Avenue home around 6 weeks ago and says they were a "quiet family" who kept to themselves.

The street in Frenchville was worlds away from it's usual solidarity as numerous Rockhampton Police officers and CIB officers investigated the scene.

Liza, who had lived in her two-story home for more than five years, said she woke this morning to say goodbye to her husband as he left for work and thought the police tape around the house meant they were investigating a break-in.

She said the street had previously had a robbery only a few weeks ago but was shocked to learn a woman was murdered.

Liza said she had only ever seen the family on her drives past but had never seen the woman before.

She said she hadn't seen or heard any disturbances this morning and thought it was "absolutely horrible" something like this happened just a few days before Christmas.
