Quality sized snapper on the bite
IT'S been a bit of an up and down week with some worthy fish being caught on some decent run-in tides throughout the boat ramps and bay inlets.
The water has been very dirty and it may be the reason why the fish are so temperamental.
Great fishing can be found at Teebar ledge and the surrounding sand flats.
Fishing in about 3-4m of water has been producing some smaller squire in the 30-50cm mark.
They are taking well-presented squid, pillies, mullet strips and live baits as well as paddle tail and prawn imitation soft plastics.
If you are in search of the bigger snapper there is a mark between Inskip Point and Kauri Creek where there is a deeper channel of water.
On the top and bottom of the tide when the water becomes still, bottom bashing with lures and baits proves results on big snapper in the 4kg region.
With a depth sounder finding the schools of fish it can be like shooting ducks in a barrel.
Still be on the lookout for big whiting around the Poona region on the sand flats as they are still providing great fun and a good feed, especially the larger models in the 30cm range.
There has been heaps of tailor and schooling throughout the straits and they are taking literally any lure thrown at them.
