Qld school staff paid $10m in compo as violence escalates
SCHOOL staff have been paid out more than $10 million over five years due to distressing and violent incidents in Queensland state schools.
News Ltd reports students have wielded guns, knives and furniture in incidents cited in psychological injury claims.
Teachers, principals and teacher aides have been punched, slapped, chased, sexually assaulted, shoulder-charged, spat on, scratched and bitten by students, repeatedly in some cases.
They have witnessed co-workers and students being assaulted and been the subject of false allegations.
Principals and teachers say the documented psychological injuries are just the tip of the iceberg, with many more not lodging claims.
