Program to prepare children for school
GYMPIE Central School, in conjunction with Adelene Walker and Community Action Gympie, is running a program for Gympie region youngsters to help them with the transition to school.
The program involves two sessions a week for the next few weeks.
Central State School is in Lawrence St in the heart of Gympie, and the program is being run by Rachael Pelling every Monday, and by Kay Skinner every Friday.
It is play-based and uses games and activities to focus on the development of social skills, communication (speaking and listening), following directions, and gross and fine motor skills.
The children are introduced to some of the general routines associated with school.
The program is open to all children in the Gympie area.
The times are Monday 9am-noon and Fridays noon-2.45pm.
Inquiries phone 5480 2111 or call Central School.
There is no obligation to enrol at Central State School for the Prep year in 2014.
