Pregnant teacher, 33, allegedly had sex with schoolboy

A PREGNANT teacher is facing charges after allegedly having a sexual relationship with a 17-year-old student at an elite Sydney school.

The teacher was arrested on Friday morning and charged with indecent assault and six counts of sexual intercourse with a person under care between 17 and 18 years.

Neither she nor the school was identified in order to protect the student's identity.

The teacher is understood to have been suspended by the school, and parents informed.

Police were called by the school after the boy reportedly told a counsellor about the relationship

The Daily Telegraph reports the court was told the teacher "was in a position of power and she's abused that power ... she has exercised a degree of influence" over the teenager.

News Corp reports the woman was supported by her husband and her mother posted a $30,000 cash surety to allow her release on bail.
