Come join the Pre Muster Party

THE Gympie region throws open the town and its arms Friday night with an invitation for all to join the Pre Muster Party in Mary St from 4.30.

The annual street party is a chance for the local community to get an early jump on the celebrations and an opportunity for earlybird campers to head into the town and take part in the pre-event activity.

This year the Pre Muster Mary Street Party is being co-ordinated by the Australian Institute of Country Music in conjunction with the Gympie Music Muster.

A Pre Muster Concert will be held on the Gold City Centre Stage and will feature an array of local talent including Caitlyn Shadbolt, Disbanded, Playback and Epic, and The Institute.

Headlining act Travis Collins will hit the stage at 7.30pm.

Support from Gympie Regional Council, Gympie Chamber of Commerce, Gympie Turf Club, Gympie Apex Club, The Gympie Times and the Mary St business houses has made this year’s event possible, but local hotels are also contributing to all the action in Mary St.

Lesley Mitchell from Billy’s has booked country entertainer Lance Friend and Band playing from 5pm and kindly provided the band to AICM for the 7pm timeslot on the City Centre Stage.

Lance has been heard on country radio since 2004 with songs including Just Met an Angel, Don’t Ring this Ringer and Longreach Sky with his band Friends in No Places.

Catch local boys The Duke Wilde Band at The Royal from 5pm and check out why they are on the verge of breaking into the American country music market.

Award winning singer/songwriter Fiona O’Shea will appear at the Empire Hotel tonight from 5pm. She has won awards in both Australia and the US with her own distinct style of songwriting.

Catch the Polleys bus from the Muster site this afternoon at the Y intersection roundabout at 5pm to head into the Pre Muster Party in Mary St.

The bus departs Gympie at 10.30pm sharp from behind to Billy’s on Reef St to return to the Muster. First in best dressed. Cost is a gold coin donation to AICM.

With so much talent to see, who will you choose?
