Gympie Muster couch dumps down, but still a problem

MUSTER fans leaving last weekend's music festival have been appalled to see couches still being left behind in the Amamoor State Forest Park.

Kerry McAuliffe posted a photo on Facebook of two sofas dumped in nearby forestry.

"Thumbs down to the grubs who dumped these in our local forestry, so much for the new rules," she wrote, suggesting a total ban at future Musters.

Muster Executive Director David Gibson said the couches pictured could not be located in the camping grounds, while reiterating the effectiveness of the new 'couch deposit' at the Muster.

"This is the first year we've introduced a $50 refundable couch deposit to combat the awful littering we've had in recent years," he said.

"We've gone from having over 50 couches dumped at the end of last year to just three this year."
