Polley’s Coaches drives exciting new technology

POLLEY'S Coaches Gympie believes the recipe to ongoing success is diversification and expanding services to its customers.

Owner and operator Warren Polley said the business had just gained approval from Queensland Transport to be an Approved Inspection Station.

Becoming an AIS means Polley's Coaches Gympie can carry out roadworthy inspections for customers on a wide range of vehicles and accessories.

Mr Polley said the business had to clear a number of hurdles with Queensland Transport.

"The exams for our mechanics were quite stringent," he said.

"We're really proud of the team we have here and the level of qualifications for servicing our customers."

Polley's Coaches Gympie has not wasted time in opening its expanded services to the public.

Infrastructure has been purchased, including a $120,000 brake roller tester built in Sydney.

The nearest facility for Gympie motorists is in Bundaberg to the north and the Caloundra/Caboolture area to the south.

"It's exciting to be able to offer this service to our customers," Mr Polley said.

The brake roller tester machine is at the cutting-edge of safety.

Polley's mechanic Todd Keogh said the machine gave more feedback to the mechanic and this only meant improved safety on the road.

"There's greater accuracy from the more detailed testing," he said.

"It has the potential to save lives in the industry."

Mr Polley said the technology was "as good as it gets in Australia".

The machine is capable of assessing the load on each wheel, its braking capacity and isolating any problems.

"A vehicle could be braking just fine but one wheel may be doing most of the work and in terms of safety, that's something we want to know about," Mr Polley said.

The brake roller tester machine provides computerised feedback of all testing performed which is then able to interface with Queensland Transport.

Test results cannot be deleted, ensuring greater transparency. To take advantage of Polley's Coaches Gympie's new services, contact (07) 5480 4500.
