Police whistleblower to run in upcoming state elections
POLICE whistleblower Rick Flori has revealed plans to run for state parliament at the next state elections.
The former Surfers Paradise cop is accused of leaking footage to the media of police officers bashing handcuffed young chef Noa Begic in 2012.

In a video on Facebook yesterday, Flori said he would run as an independent in the Southport division at the next election.
"As my past has shown I don't always follow the crowd.
"I don't follow and don't need to follow any particular party line or party policy.
"I thought independent was the best way for me to try to approach this.
"I can represent those needs in parliament."

"I can vote from my own confidence and how I feel the public need to be represented.
Flori was suspended after releasing footage of the 2012 bashing and is in the middle of a lengthy court battle with the Queensland Police Service since he was charged with misconduct in public office.
