Police net hefty haul
GYMPIE police netted five kilograms of cannabis, worth around $10,000, in a series of busts in the Gympie region yesterday.
The main haul of 4.8kg was seized during a raid on a Widgee property around 7.30am yesterday morning, police said.
Officer in charge of the Gympie CIB Detective Sergeant Dion Southey said one person would be charged with possession of a dangerous drug exceeding the schedule.
Sgt Southey said six people were arrested in the Gympie area on 11 charges for drug related offences as part of ongoing local operations.
The local operation was also part of Operation Unification, a joint Police, Crime Stoppers and ANZPAA Crime Forum initiative which commenced yesterday in all State and Territories.
Police are asking residents to support the “Say Something” phone-in day by ringing the Crime Stoppers number 1800 333 000 with information about the manufacture and distribution of illicit drugs, especially amphetamines.
