Police nab drunk speedster

POLICE patrolling the Bruce Highway on the weekend observed a 28-year-old man allegedly speeding on the southbound lane, near Federal, about 1.20pm on Saturday.

Officers did not intercept nor pursue the man but followed the vehicle.

A short time later they came across the man’s vehicle driving slowly behind another vehicle after allegedly ramming into it.

No one was injured in the incident.

It was also alleged the man’s vehicle had been observed speeding earlier at Howard.

The Ashmore man was taken into custody and it was alleged his breath analysis was over the legal limit. He was charged with drink driving, speeding and dangerous operation of a motor vehicle.

The man will appear in the Noosa Magistrates Court on April 27.
