EARLIER: A 27-YEAR-OLD man has been found dead on the Warrego Hwy after what appears to be a hit-and-run.

The man was found on the highway at 3.50am yesterday.

A Queensland Police Service spokeswoman said the initial investigations of the incident suggested he was hit by a vehicle.

However, police were unsure as to what the man was doing on the highway in the early hours of the morning.

Witnesses said the man had been seen on the middle of the road.

The QPS spokeswoman said a truck had been seized at the Toowoomba PCYC markets yesterday morning after it was alleged to be linked to the incident.

The Warrego Hwy was closed in both directions with diversions in place for several hours after the man's body had been found.

The highway reopened just after 8am yesterday.
