UPDATE: POLICE and fire investigators are still investigating the cause of death and the cause of the fire.

The death does not seem suspicious at this stage.

A MAN has died in a car fire in Kingaroy this morning.

Neighbours on Murray Pde raised the alarm when they heard a loud horn sound from the 72-year-old man's carport at 1.15am on Sunday morning.

Sargent Ron Reynold said the neighbours saw flames and called the police and Queensland Fire and Emergency Services.

Fire-fighters distinguished the flames and and found the body of the man in the drivers seat of the car.

Detectives from Kingaroy CIB and a forensic team from Brisbane are at the scene.

The body has been taken to Brisbane for forensic examination.

Police are investigating the cause of the fire.

The man lived alone and is yet to be identified.
