Police hunt for missing tourist
POLICE are appealing for public assistance to find a missing Filipino tourist.
Rannielyn Catapal was last seen about noon on Monday, February 20, in the Brassall area, where she was living with an elderly man.
Ipswich Criminal Investigation Branch Detective Senior Constable Steve Watts said police were yet to confirm the missing woman's age and name, but believed she was about 18 to 20 and was using the name Rannielyn Catapal in Australia.
"She was just a tourist, living with an elderly gentleman while in Ipswich," Snr Const Watts said.
"The reason we are concerned for her safety is because it is her first time in Australia and she has no access to funds."
The man Ms Catapal was living with reported her missing on Monday.
Police would like to speak to anyone who saw Ms Catapal between noon and 4pm on Monday.
She was described as being of Filipino appearance, about 150cm tall, weighing about 40kg with a slim, child-like build.
The photo of Ms Catapal was taken the day before she was reported missing and she was believed to have been wearing the same clothes on Monday.
Anyone with information that could assist police should contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
