Police chase wanted man

GYMPIE police received a tip-off about the whereabouts of a wanted man and when told he was not hiding at the given address, lay in wait to get their man.

Investigating officers said they went to a Gympie home at 9am Saturday to be told by the occupants they weren't harbouring a fugitive. Officers waited nearby and allegedly spotted the suspect doing a runner from the house shortly after. They followed by car and then on foot.

He was caught and placed under arrest. An ambulance was called to treat injuries he received while trying to get away. He escaped and ran away again and was caught with assistance from the ambulance officer and taken into custody.
