Police call for anyone who saw fatal crash to come forward
POLICE are still trying to piece together a traffic crash which claimed the life of a 77-year-old Bargara man yesterday.
The man, a member of the Sandhills Sports Club (formerly the Bargara Bowls Club), was understood to have just left club and was riding his bike home when he was struck by a white ute and instantly killed.
Bundaberg Patrol Group Acting Inspector Grant Marcus said police were appealing for any witnesses to the crash at the intersection of Whalley and Grimwood Sts at around 5.20pm yesterday.
"Our Forensic Crash investigation Unit is conducting further enquires today of the scene," he said.
"We will be investigating to determine how this has occurred."
Act Inspt Marcus said police will speak with the driver today, a 67-year-old man.
"The driver was taken to hospital yesterday in shock," he said.
Inspt Marcus said the crush occurred at a busy time of the day and there are a number of factors police will investigate to see whether they played any part in the collision.
