21 people arrested in coast op assisted by bikie taskforce
POLICE have arrested 21 people on 52 charges during a three-day operation targeting crime in Yeppoon and Emu Park.
The Capricornia Police Mobile Enforcement Task force (MET) started Operation Lima Anise last Thursday.
This is the third MET operation conducted in the Capricornia district this year. Specialist sections within Rockhampton and Yeppoon police were assisted by staff from Task Force Maxima from Brisbane, which is responsible for the detection and apprehension of outlaw motorcycle members.
"The MET operation was very successful on a local level, with a number of arrests made and quality intelligence gathered," Acting Detective Senior Sergeant Scott Ingram said.
People were arrested on charges of drug possession, wilful damage and public nuisance, among other things.
Eleven search warrants were executed and 827 random breath tests conducted.
Act Det Snr Sgt Ingram reminded the public that illegal or anti-social behaviour would not be tolerated by police in the lead-up to the festive season.
Police also encouraged everyone travelling on the roads this holiday season to drive sensibly.
