PM Tony Abbott given 'pretty spiffy' makeover in Rocky
WHEN a man came into Georges store claiming that Prime Minister Tony Abbott was on his way, staff thought he was joking.
But after identifying himself as a member of Mr Abbott's security team, Catherine George suddenly found herself in a state of shock.
"We were busy vacuuming on Monday morning and, when we heard, we whipped the vacuums away and got ready to meet the Prime Minister," said Catherine, who manages the popular William St store.
"It was an honour to have him in our store."
Catherine was told that Mr Abbott had just one suit packed for his trip to Central Queensland and needed jeans and a shirt to head out to Moranbah.
"We got him RM Williams jeans and a shirt, and he looked pretty spiffy," Catherine said.
Though he was headed out west, Catherine said they skipped the cowboy hat and opted for something more suitable to his image.
"We wanted him looking smart in an akubra cattleman's hat; it's a gentleman's hat," Catherine said.
"It's more of a 'go anywhere' hat."
