Plumber in a big stink after night on the drink

A GLADSTONE plumber who deals with sewage daily found himself in a stink after a big night on the drink, Gladstone Magistrates Court heard on Tuesday.

Daniel James Collins-McClinton, 26, pleaded guilty to charges of committing public nuisance and wilful exposure, after an incident on April 4.

Police prosecutor Emma Bonnyman read the facts of the incident in which officers, patrolling the CBD, found Collins-McClinton sitting bare-bottomed on the footpath near the intersection of Auckland and William Sts, with his pants around his ankles, facing traffic.

It appeared Collins-McClinton had also defecated, due to his gross levels of intoxication, according to duty solicitor Sharon Kang.

Collins-McClinton told police he "just couldn't make it home", despite living only metres from the location of the offence.

He told the officers the excrement must have belonged to a mate, and that it wasn't his.

Magistrate Russell Warfield recorded no conviction.

He fined Collins-McClinton a total of $650.
