Plenty to see at the Gympie show

PIGS really will fly at this year’s Gympie Show.

So will horses, motorbikes, skateboarders, utes and the time, because there will be so much to do and see.

Organisers said this year’s Gympie District Show is jam-packed with entertainment, including racing pigs, Australia’s top showjumpers, the Showtime FMX freestyle motocross riders, Drawing Boards professional skateboarders and the Toyota V6 HiLux Heroes stunt precision driving team.

Show society President Graham Engeman said there will be some $90,000 worth of entertainment packed into three big days as well as a huge array of first class exhibits in The Pavilion, royal quality livestock on show, the thrill a minute sideshow alley, spectacular fireworks and every dad’s favourite, Machinery Alley.

“The Gympie Show is a great family event,” Mr Engeman said.

“And it’s fantastic value. An adult can buy a three day pass for $35 – that’s less than $12 a day.”

Show administrator Melanie Green said it was all hands on deck at the moment ensuring everything was ready for the three-day event.

Fencing contractor Greg McVicar was yesterday extending the cattle yards to make it easier to spray cattle heading back to tick-free country after the show.

There are a million little last minute details, but Melanie is confident all will be ready for the opening day.

The Gympie Show is on May 13, 14 and 15.

Tickets are available from the Gympie Show office at the showgrounds, Monday to Friday, 10am to 4pm, Goldfields Plaza (opposite Coles) and Centro Shopping Centre (opposite Big W), Monday to Friday 10am to 4pm, (Thursday till 7pm), Saturday 9am to 1pm.

Show passes are now on sale and the best value is the multi-day pass: adult costs $35 (includes up to two children (extra children $15 each); aged pensioner is $30; and a youth pass (15 to 17 years) is $30.

Single day passes are: adult, $25 (includes up to two children); aged pensioner, $15; youth, $20; and unaccompanied chid (14 or under), $5.

Entry is by wristband only, no actual tickets will be issued.
