Plans to bring softball back

GYMPIE was once a softball powerhouse and Maree Bull would love to see the district regain its former glory.

The softball mum is trying to re-establish the sport in Gympie again. While there has been interest, Bull would love more people to come forward.

“Some people think softball is ‘soft’, but it’s not,” she said. “It’s for both boys and girls and is very rewarding.”

There are plans still being finalised for a come and try day later this month, featuring a exhibition match between Maryborough and Noosa.

In the meantime, a meeting will be held at the McDonalds party room next Thursday between 5 and 6.30pm. Anyone interested is urged to attend.

Bull said people should ring Maxine on 5482 9889 or 0458 468 799 to put their name down to play.
