Peugeot launches seven-seat 5008 from $36,990

PEUGEOT has launched its utilitarian seven-seater wagon, with prices starting from $36,990.

Only available in two grades with an automatic transmission, the 5008 1.6-litre petrol is $36,990 while the 2.0-litre diesel option is $40,490 (plus on-roads).

Fresh from launching its hero RCZ coupe, Peugeot has stuck to its word by throwing feature-packed offerings into the market. There is only one 5008 equipment grade, with a leather interior costing an additional $3500.

Families will love the two standard 17cm rear screens with Bluetooth headsets which connect to a DVD player or games unit, along with dash mounted sat nav, rear parking sensors and rear camera, dual zone air con with rear vents and 17-inch alloys.

Boot space is reasonable even with all seven seats deployed, ranging from 758 litres to 823 depending on the third row positioning. Peugeot says capacity increases to 1247 litres when the rear parcel shelf is removed, while this can further increase to 2506 litres when the second row seats are folded.

Under the skin and the 1.6-litre petrol engine generates maximum power of 115kW and peak torque of 240 with average fuel consumption of 7.6 litres/100km.

The 2.0-litre diesel is a stronger unit, with 120kW and a healthier 340Nm with fuel consumption rated at 6.3 litres/100km.
