Man drowns at popular beach

A PERSON has died after being pulled from the water off a southeast Queensland beach.

A Queensland Ambulance spokesman said paramedics were called to a location near the popular Cylinder Beach campground 10.12am to a "post-immersion" event.

The spokesman said a rescue helicopter was also dispatched but no patient was transported.

A Queensland Police Service spokesman confirmed the drowning about 12.50pm.

The man's age has yet to be confirmed.
