QUEENSLAND Governor Penelope Wensley will remain in her post for another 12 months, an extension supported by the Queen.

Ms Wensley will stay in the role until July 2014.

"Ms Wensley has been an excellent servant to the people of Queensland for the past four-and-a-half years and I am very pleased she has agreed to continue serving as Governor for another year," Mr Newman said.

The Premier also paid tribute to the Governor's family for their "unflagging support".
