Revenge then redemption as Jarreau replaces Mal's signs

A TWINGE of remorse compelled a political candidate to replace Mal Brough's election signs he ripped out of the ground in a frustrated attempt at revenge.

Independent candidate for Fisher, Jarreau Terry said he removed two of the LNP candidate's signs on Sunday night, believing LNP supporters were "destroying" signs belonging to other candidates.

Mr Brough has denied anyone in his party has been taking other signs.

"The accusations are absolute rubbish," he said.

Mr Brough says his own election signs have been removed or defaced.

Mr Terry has spent years trying to make good after being sentenced in 2007 to 50 days behind bars for driving the getaway vehicle in an armed invasion.

But he said: "I cracked it tonight and ripped out two of Mal Brough's signs," he said. He replaced them the next day.

Someone from Mr Brough's office had asked Mr Terry to remove a sign placed outside Mr Brough's Kawana office.

Mr Terry said he had received permission from Peter Slipper, the Member for Fisher, who has an office in the same complex as Mr Brough.

"It's pretty cheeky of me, but come on man, your crew shouldn't feel it. $400 grand and 1400 volunteers; it should be a shoe in," he said in a letter to Mr Brough which he forwarded to the Daily.

"I do not have an issue with Mal Brough, I actually respect him as he is super tough and a silky talker," he also said in the email.
