Parkhurst faces dingo charges

WILDLIFE photographer Jennifer Parkhurst will face court today to fight charges of feeding and interfering with Fraser Island's dingoes.

Parkhurst faces more than 45 charges relating to incidents on the island in 2008 and 2009.

She was charged following a raid on her Rainbow Beach unit in August last year, in which DERM officers seized her camera and computer equipment.

Parkhurst's lawyer John Rivett said she would be contesting the charges. About 15 witnesses will be called to give evidence during the three-day hearing in Maryborough Magistrates Court.

DERM prosecutor Petrina Prowse told the court in March there was 17 terabytes of information to examine. Parkhurst's former boyfriend Adam Randall was fined $2500 in the court earlier this year for five offences of feeding and interfering with dingoes. The court heard he and Parkhurst regularly fed a pack of dingoes at Hook Point.

Ranger Les Gallehawk was also fined and dismissed from his job after feeding a dingo.
