Northern Outlaws hail Billy Rogers’ return

DESPITE Billy Rogers returning to the Northern Outlaws today to play Caboolture the side will still be without a few key players owing to a hazardous training session on Thursday night.

Northern Outlaws player coach Anthony Zipf said Billy Rogers will return after recovering from facial injuries earlier in the year and has been training well.

"It will be good to have him back".

Rogers sustained a broken eye socket, jaw and cheekbone after copping a knee to the face while competing at the annual 47th Battalion carnival in Roma.

He probably could have played the match against Caloundra, but thought it was best to rest him for this weekend, he said.

Zipf said Sunshine Coast Falcons players Jordan Ryan and Jake Harney would sit out on today's match after Ryan injured a hamstring and Harney hurt his neck at Thursday night's training session.

Brock Dalgleish had been advised never to play league again after a fractured eye-socket obtained in the Outlaws match against Caloundra had cut his season short, while Hayden Trask is out with glandular fever.

He said they had players to fill these positions, but would not be as strong without Jake Harney.

"If we play well we should get the result," he said.

He said he would replace Harney this week in the number six jersey and hoped he was game fit for today's game.

"It will be a bit disjointed without Harney".

Last time the Outlaws played the Caboolture Snakes they defeated them convincingly 48-6 after previously tying in the first game of the season.

Zipf said after the break the Outlaws had a hard session on Tuesday and another on Thursday.

He said Hayden Herbert had been coming along well and Tim Wyvill who began as a utility player now had his place in the middle.
