Gympie tourism gets free plug
TOURISM Australia’s photographic competition has proved a boon for Rainbow Beach with a competition entry of the coastal town’s Carlo Sand Blow shown in major Australian newspapers.
The Adelaide Advertiser and Courier Mail ran pictures of the sand blow, giving our coastline a free plug in the competitive tourism market.
The marketing campaign run by Tourism Australia has smashed expectations for the amount of entries.
The original target for 10,000 to 15,000 photos to be submitted to its website www.nothinglikeaustralia.com, has past and has now nearly 30,000 entries.
The Gympie Region is featured prominently with our beaches, Tin Can Bay, the Rattler as well as the sand blow being featured in the competition The state finalists, will receive a $5000 holiday, will be announced on June 23 and the overall winner of a $25,000 holiday will be announced on June 30.
