Our 6 tackle big race

AT least six Gympie runners headed down to the Gold Coast Airport Marathon at the weekend.

Geoff Lobegeier ran in the Southern Cross University 10km Run with Tim and Peter Topalov and Greg Cavanagh.

Lobegeier was the 2035th runner out of 5998 entrants and placed 220th for his gender and age category.

He had a personal best time of 55.41 (net) and came third in the Gympie team he competed with.

“I had been sick for the last three to four weeks leading up to the race and had not been able to train. But I ran my best time so far,” Lobegeier said.

Tim Topalov came first (53.38), Cavanagh second (54.17) and Peter Topalov (55.49) fourth.

Tanya Hall ran the half marathon (21km) with an official time of 2.05.24 and was placed 391 for her gender and age.

While Brett Hall and Adam Shinnick competed in the full marathon (42km) with net times of 3.27.29 (official placing 722) and 4.06.58 (official placing 2211).

There were 5086 runners in the full marathon.
