WIDGEE Pony Club has had an exciting and productive start to the 2014 season, welcoming four new instructors and several new members.

All instructors have extensive experience and background in the horse industry, bringing with them a diverse array of attributes and knowledge and many of the new members have already proven their skills in various gymkhanas and clinics held around the region.

Several attended the Guy Creighton Jump Clinic at Gympie where they were very impressed, achieving a huge confidence boost from the former Olympian and multiple Australian champion.

The Kia Ora Clinic was another popular event where riders of all levels were able to gain valuable coaching experience.

Following the clinic was the Kia Ora Hack Day on April 21 where a number of members of the club excelled themselves, bringing home many ribbons, including a reserve champion.

With the gymkhana season well under way, the club has been competing in events in Gympie, Mooloolah and Maroochy.

In Gympie, the Widgee club came first in the march past, also winning a number of ribbons and trophies.

The next big event on the calendar for Widgee will be the gymkhana and campdraft at the Widgee Pony Club and Rodeo Grounds in Upper Widgee Rd.

This event will run over the three days of the June long weekend, beginning on Saturday the 7th, closing on Monday the 9th.

Nomination forms are available from club secretary Robert Moreland 5484 1117 or president Johathan Cross 0425 824 648.
