NSW Blues: how the players rated in Origin III

IT was a tough game for the New South Wales Blues, but how did individual players' performances rate?

Josh Dugan 6: Unlike games one and two, had a quiet night with his forwards getting dominated.

Will Hopoate 5: Lost the ball after a solid hit from Queensland prop Matt Scott in the 14th minute, which led to a Maroons try. The Maroons juggernaut could not be stopped from there.

Michael Jennings 5: Quiet night while the Maroons dominated, unlike his scintillating first half in game two at the MCG.

Josh Morris 5: Virtually no impact with his team constantly on the back foot

Brett Morris 6: Scrambled hard in defence and did some handy things with the ball, but an error off a bomb almost led to a Maroons try right on halftime.

Mitchell Pearce 5 ½: Nullified by the Maroons once again, but it's hard for any halfback to work his magic behind a beaten forward pack.

Trent Hodkinson 5: Like Pearce, found it hard to get into the game behind a beaten pack.

James Tamou 4 ½: Just four runs for only 29m, and let the frustration get to him with an unnecessary high shot in the second half.

Michael Ennis 5: Forced an error on Hodges in first set of six, but once the Maroons clicked into gear not even his niggle could keep his badly beaten pack in the game.

Aaron Woods 4 ½: Earned a penalty in front of sticks in fifth minute, but very ill-disciplined first half saw him give away three silly penalties. Very low yardage gain.

Beau Scott 5: Made a couple of good runs early, but bad late hit on Cameron Smith which was penalised summed up the Blues' poor first half.

Ryan Hoffman 4: Just one run for the night before leaving the game midway through the first half with a calf injury

Paul Gallen (capt) 6 ½: Very good early involvement when the Blues enjoyed the ascendency inside the first 10 minutes. The Blues' best forward with the most runs by far from his team (18)

Interchange:

Trent Merrin 5: Just three runs for 19m and gave away a silly lifting penalty on Corey Parker that could prove costly

Boyd Cordner 5 ½: The story of the Blues' bench, with just five runs for 41m

David Klemmer 5 ½: Stood up in a badly-beaten side with eight runs for 70m. Certainly a player NSW can build a team around going forward.

Josh Jackson 5: Just one run for nine metres and did little over the entire series to justify his inclusion.
