TJ Simons from Simo’s Music now offers a recording studio at the shop in Hyne St. LEE GAILER

Now just for the record...

SIMO'S Music Shop is stepping up its game by opening a recording studio.

The professional recording studio, SSS, has been launched to the excitement of TJ Simons, who can produce recordings from one song to a complete album.

The aim is to provide the community with a facility that produces quality recordings at affordable prices.

TJ's goal is to offer a sound quality of professional standard to recording artists at a reasonable cost.

He has plans to extend the studio, but for now there are four sound rooms and a control room.

"I have always studied engineering, but have never had professional equipment to utilise," TJ said.

TJ grew up in Gympie and has a Certificate III in Luthiering (guitar making), a skill handed down from his father and his father before that.

What is a luthier?

A luthier is someone who makes or repairs lutes and other stringed instruments.

The term is used interchangeably with a term for the specialty of each maker, such as violin maker, guitar maker, lute maker, etc.

The word luthier comes from the Old French word "lut, which means "lute".

The craft of making stringed instruments, or lutherie, is commonly divided into two main categories: makers of stringed instruments that are plucked or strummed, and makers of stringed instruments that are bowed.
