THE man accused of killing Gatton high school student Jayde Amanda Kendall has pleaded not guilty and will fight the charge in the Brisbane Supreme Court.

Lockyer Waters man Brenden Jacob Bennetts, 19 appeared this morning in Ipswich Magistrates Court via video link from Arthur Gorrie Correctional Centre at Wacol.

His family was among those gathered to hear the matter in the court room where there was standing room only.

The prosecution handed up a witness list with 204 entries, however, none of those people claim to have seen the crime.

Miss Kendall's body was found dumped in a paddock at Upper Tenthill on August 27.

Mr Bennetts was charged with the 16-year-old's murder shortly after the discovery and is facing an additional charge of interfering with the body.

Defence lawyer Brendan Ryan says he's confident his client can beat the charge with the crown relying on a 'prima facie' case.

"I don't think the crown has a strong case," Mr Ryan said outside the Ipswich Courthouse.

"On the face of the evidence it appears that my client may have committed this particular offence.

"At the end of the day the Crown has to prove its case… the evidence is subject to interpretation by a jury."

The Crown will need to convince a jury beyond reasonable doubt that Mr Bennett's committed the crime.

Mr Ryan said his team has a defence strategy, although he wasn't willing to disclose any details.

There was no application for bail and Mr Bennetts will remain in custody.

A date is yet to be set for the matter to be heard in Brisbane.
