A MASSAGE therapist accused of allegedly sexually assaulting a woman has been arrested after a swift investigation.

Townsville Police detectives arrested the 53-year-old North Ward man on Monday afternoon and will allege he sexually assaulted a woman while operating as a massage therapist.

It will be alleged the man accepted only cash-in-hand payments and operated the massage service out of his Warburton St home.

The man, previously unknown to police, was brought to their attention after a female client made a complaint on the weekend.

It is understood the woman found the massage therapist through a Google search for massage services in the area.

Detective from the Child Protection and Sex Crimes Unit have also alleged there may be other instances of sexual assault.

Members of the public who may have information are asked to come forward.

He is expected to be charged with one count of sexual assault and one count of rape.

The 53-year-old man is due to face Townsville Magistrates Court today.
