Could this be the future of the One Mile Hotel site?
NO-ONE wanted to tell us, but the Queensland Times has been able to unravel the mystery of the new development at West Ipswich.
New Farm-based developers Synergy Property Partners are behind the demolition of the One Mile Hotel and purchase of neighbouring Town and Country land. The group developed the recently opened $15million 24-hour service station complex at Citiswich Business Park at Bundamba off the Warrego Highway, anchored by Puma fuels and fast-food chain Oporto (pictured above).
Synergy Property Partners is known for developing travel centres at highway sites.
The group purchased the One Mile Hotel site for $1.98million on November 27 and is purchasing the adjoining vacant block, the easement behind the former hotel site and the Town and Country site owned by the Walker family, giving them a 10,670sqm development site.
Secrecy surrounding the West Ipswich project had outraged the wider community with Mayor Paul Pisasale late last year calling on developers to come forward to reveal plans for the site after complaints from those concerned about the hotel being demolished, former hotel staff and nearby residents.
The hotel building was demolished overnight the Monday before Christmas.
Synergy Property Partners director Edward Masterson took off on an overseas holiday shortly after the demolition and has not yet returned.
The QT was unable to contact Mr Masterson or his office for comment yesterday.
