Editorial: No need to get rid of Tiaro croc

Editorial: THE thought of having to get rid of the crocodile in the Mary River near Petrie Park in Tiaro, in my view, is sad.

From all reports the crocodile will be trapped by National Parks and Wildlife officers and moved out of the Mary River.

I like the fact that we have a crocodile in the Mary.

Don't get my wrong they are dangerous animals and need to be treated with respect.

It would be a tragedy if the animal ever took the life of a person swimming or using the Mary River.

Personally, like the risk of shark attack at Rainbow Beach, I think the chance of human being taken is pretty remote.

The crocodile isn't large and I think we could learn a lot about the animals and how they survive this far south.

One Gympie Times reader said we need to catch the croc and track it to find out more about the animal.

I think that's a great way to make the river safe from attack and learn about the creatures at the same time.
