Next hinterland hotspot to get hitched emerges
A new player in the hinterland wedding and events market could soon emerge.
Plans lodged with Sunshine Coast Council have revealed a proposal for a new wedding and events facility at 418 Maleny-Kenilworth Rd, Witta.
The plans, lodged on behalf of landowners John and Elena Parolin, proposed a new function centre and mansion on the 13.7ha property.
The mansion is proposed to have a two-storey building at the centre, with single-level accommodation wings on each side.
The wings would be made up of three rooms each, all with bed, ensuite, robe and court area.
The ground floor of the main mansion building would include the kitchen, lounge, dining and laundry areas.
There would be a master bedroom and bridal prep room upstairs, with a breakout area in between.
A spa and walk-in robe were also included in the plans for the master bedroom.
The hinterland has established itself as a renowned wedding region, with many couples choosing to take advantage of the scenery of Maleny, Montville and its surrounds.
The planning documents lodged with council earlier this month stated the location of the proposed development supported the Blackall Range nature and hinterland tourism focus, and would provide low-impact visitor accommodation.
"The proposed development meets changing market needs, providing rural opportunities and employment within the Sunshine Coast hinterland," the report stated.
The proposal was touted to support local employment and was considered to include complimentary uses which contributed to the regional economy and provided services within the rural area.
The application was to be impact assessable, under current council guidelines.
